Troubleshooting the NateChrony

There’s no WiFi
The NateChrony will always create the ChronyX Wi-Fi network, ensure there are no other networks with the same name nearby. If it is not connecting to an existing Wi-Fi network, perform a Wi-Fi password reset and reconfigure.
If connecting to an existing network, connect to the ChronyX network first and view the IP address in the lower left of the screen. If it is 0.0.0.0 then it has not connected successfully to an existing network.

I cannot access the web page
The NateChrony page is not a webpage on the internet, it is the NateChrony that serves the web page, so you must be connected to the Chrony Wi-Fi network - or connected to the same existing Wi-Fi network to be able to access the NateChrony web page. Check your device is connected to the Chrony Wi-Fi network & remains connected, by inspection of the Wi-Fi icon, typically at the top of your devices screen. If you are using an existing network, ensure there is an IP address in the lower portion of the screen.

The Wi-Fi drops out after a shot
This is most likely due to a dirty sensor on software versions v3-v3.6. Follow the procedure to remove any obstructions and clean the sensors, then perform a drop testing using the supplied test pellet. It is recommended to periodically clean your barrel using a cleaning pellet, especially after any tuning or lubing work.

The voice readout on iPhone/IOS doesnt work
The voice readout uses JavaScript speach synthesis, which was supposed to be fully supported on Safari on IOS mid 2013. It also worked on our (old) test device, But Apple… We’re working on a fix for this.

It is not detecting my shots
The pellet must pass both sensors to register a shot. Use the troubleshooting procedure (dropping the supplied test pellet through the NateChrony) to verify it is functioning correctly. If this is successful - then it is an alignment issue. Ensure the adapter is correctly and firmly installed on the barrel.
You can check the IR transmitters are working by removing the top cover, power the NateChrony and use your mobile phone to see that both transmitters (2 legs) are glowing a faint purple colour.

My speed readings are zero
This will be due to a dirty or blocked rear (closest to the muzzle) sensor. Ensure your rifle is clean and that it is not blowing out debris (i.e. graphite lubricant, moderator) or burnt lubricant. Clean the barrel with cleaning pellets before, and while using the NateChrony to keep it clean. Use compressed air or a vacuum to remove any obstructions or debris from inside the NateChrony. You can also perform the teardown and clean procedure, use a clean cotton bud to clean the transmitters and sensors.

My speed readings are bonkers high
If the detected speed is below 1fps or above 2,000fps - an error reading of 9,998fps will be shown. This will most likely be due to a dirty front sensor (farthest from the muzzle). You can also perform the teardown and clean procedure, use a cotton bud to clean the transmitters and sensors.

I’ve lost my WiFi passwords and cant connect
Perform the factory reset procedure below.

Factory Reset
Save or export any data before you do this procedure, as everything will be lost!

  1. Remove the NateChrony from the rifle
  2. Remove any power from the NateChrony
  3. Insert an object/finger into the front sensor & keep it in there
  4. Power up the NateChrony & count 3 seconds
  5. Remove the object/finger

This will remove all stored and configuration information from the NateChrony:

  • WiFi Settings
  • Speed calibration
  • Units preference
  • Voice preference
  • Comment/Description
  • Pellet weight
  • Current shot string
  • Saved shot strings
